Mindy Holmes was born and raised in the Bay Area and studied Mathematics at the University of Oregon and UC Davis. After earning her degree from UC Davis, she joined the Peace Corps, spending two years in Guinea, West Africa, where she taught math in French. Upon returning to the U.S., she completed her teaching credential at UC Davis and went on to spend the next two decades teaching in the Bay Area.

During that time, Mindy traveled whenever she could, including a year teaching in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as part of the Fulbright Teacher Exchange program. Eventually, seeking a slower pace of life, she and her husband moved to Nevada City. In her spare time, she enjoys learning new crafts, reading, walking her dogs, and exploring the beauty of Lake Tahoe.
